Hi, my name is Ruby Cheung. I’m an international Student from Hong Kong, currently studying for a Master of Nutrition and Population Health at Deakin University.

I've always been interested in the food process and what makes it safe to eat, so I decided to make it my career.

After finishing my undergraduate degree, I worked professionally in the food industry for over 10 years.

My Master's study focuses more on the relationship between human health and food - after all, we are what we eat.

I arrived in Australia 18 months ago, and am enjoying getting to know the Balwyn community.

I'm excited to volunteer with the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme. Through the program, I wish to connect with and give back to the community, meet wonderful older people and hear their stories.

Sometimes, older people can be socially isolated and have little to no contact with friends and family. As an international student far away from home, I can relate to this loneliness.

I am flattered and very fortunate to have the opportunity to share my love and knowledge of food with the community and to make a difference through the ACVVS program. Wishing you all a happy holiday!
