We're run for and by the community

Volunteer with Us

Our trusted volunteers are integral to the daily happenings at Balwyn Evergreen Centre. Performing important roles such as driving the transport shuttle, serving meals, walking dogs and visiting people in their homes, our volunteers are crucial for us to deliver our quality service. In turn, they benefit from the positive experience of being part of our community and making a difference in the lives of older people.

Kitchen Assistant

Join our friendly team of volunteers who set up tables, serve morning tea and lunches, wash dishes and undertake a variety of other tasks that are vital to our dining program.

Dog Walking

Make new human and furry friends when you become a dog walker for our elderly community members. We’re always on the lookout for pet lovers to make home visits to walk, feed and care for animal companions.

Program Assistant

Find an outlet for your organisational skills and enjoy socialising with our community when you help our staff facilitate our various programs. Tasks include setting up rooms for activities, collecting resources, communicating with clients and getting on board to help out with bus pick-up and drop off for our members.

Front Office & Administration Assistant

Join our welcoming volunteers in greeting clients when they arrive at the centre. It’s the perfect way to make new friends while you mark attendance, get involved with researching potential events, make bookings and help write one pagers to promote our upcoming events.

Community Gardening

Use your green thumb in our tranquil community garden, tucked away on the side of our building. Enjoy the satisfaction of shaping and cultivating our garden for our community and seeing it grow.

Bus Driving

Get out and about and socialise with our community of members when you drive our 12-seater bus. Our bus drivers enjoy daily chats with our clients, while helping them board and disembark.
