On Saturday March 28, Balwyn Evergreen Centre throws open its doors for its Community Open Day 2026, inviting locals to step inside, meet the team and see how it helps and supports older people to stay healthy, happy and socially connected.
With a legacy dating back to 1958, the day showcases what the Balwyn Evergreen Centre does best, exercise class demonstrations, entertainment, and plenty of opportunities to connect with local services and familiar faces.
Running from 10am to 2pm, the Open Day is designed for people to have a wander around, soak up the atmosphere and see the centre in action.
Whether someone is looking for a new class, a social group or a place to feel part of something local, this event is a great opportunity to chat with the team and gather information.
According to Tina Hogarth-Clarke, CEO of Balwyn Evergreen Centre, the Open Day is where people get a feel for the centre in real time.
“They can see the energy in our classes, meet the people behind the programs and understand how connection and movement can change someone’s week.”
This year’s Open Day will feature a fantastic line-up of activities and entertainment, including:
Exercise class demonstrations - Get moving and see first-hand the benefits of staying active with live exercise class demos throughout the day.
Live music - Enjoy the sounds of talented local musicians creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
Community partner showcase - Meet local organisations and discover valuable services available to support health and wellbeing.
Raffle with fantastic prizes - Try your luck at winning exciting prizes generously donated by local businesses.
Cake stall - Indulge in delicious homemade treats, all lovingly prepared by the centre’s volunteer bakers.
Sausage sizzle - A community event isn’t complete without a classic sausage sizzle and a warm cuppa!
Kids’ activities - Bring the little ones along to enjoy the day.
